My Reasons to Smile :)

It’s the first day of spring! Although the weather here in Hawaiʻi is still on the cloudy side, it does not mean today is a horrible day. And what better day to make a good day than today!

Today is also International Day of Happiness! In honor of this day, I’ve decided to reflect on some things that make me smile 🙂

FAMILY

Family is definitely important in my life, and I’m so blessed to be a part of such an enormous ʻohana on both sides of my family! (Note: I couldn’t find the picture from my last family reunion on my mom’s side, but that family is ENORMOUS!)

FRIENDS

I feel so blessed to have such beautiful, amazing, outgoing, hilarious, intelligent, and lovely people as friends! Although I don’t get to see my friends as often as I can, it’s so lovely knowing they’re in my life! Just looking back at all the pictures fills my heart with joy! (Apologies to my friends whose pictures are not in here! Finishing a blog before going to work is a little stressful!)

FOOD

I definitely had to put food on this list, especially since my grandma had made my favorite food, spaghetti, for dinner last night! Eating it for lunch today definitely put a smile on my face 🙂

HULA

Hula has been a huge factor of my life for twenty years, and it always fills my heart with joy to do what I love with the people that I love. I always enjoy learning about my culture’s history and stories through the hula. My biggest joy, though, is knowing that my hula sisters and I are touching the hearts of all those who watch us perform 🙂

What is your reason to smile? What makes you feel happy? Whatever your reason may be, I hope this International Day of Happiness fills your heart with so much joy!

Have a spectacular day, everyone!

Me ke aloha,
Mauri
